The September application checklist

Everything on one page, in the order it happens. — the print version drops the site chrome and fits one A4. Each line links to a longer read on the site; the paper version is the reminder, not the manual.

Before you send anything (August)

Pick 2-3 target countries from the apply-in-english data, not from folklore
Portfolio under ~15 MB, first spread says who you are, drawings over renders
Run the 20-point portfolio checklist and fix the three worst misses
CV on one page: name, role, city, languages with levels, 5 strongest tools on top
Track 10 studios you would genuinely work for (research beats volume)

The application itself

Email is 6-8 lines: who you are, why THIS studio, what you bring, available from X
One specific project of theirs named, one specific reason you fit it
Written in the studio's working language (the draft-email tool does the skeleton)
Portfolio attached or linked, CV attached, subject line says the role
Sent in LATE August: principals are back, plans are fresh, the ad may never get posted

After sending

Mark it "Sent" in the tracker the same day
One polite follow-up after ~7 days (it roughly doubles reply rates)
Know your number first: salary calculator, your country and level, walk-away written down
Alerts on for your filters, so the radar runs while you sleep
Log every reply, including the noes: the pattern tells you what to fix
